HTMA measures elements in a submitted hair specimen. Blood tests analyze a different specimen and can answer different clinical questions. Neither a blanket “better” ranking nor a fixed “three months versus minutes” comparison describes every test.
Choosing a test
Ask a qualified healthcare provider which testing is appropriate for your symptoms and history. Do not use a hair result to dismiss a blood result or delay medical assessment. See the ATSDR discussion of hair-analysis limitations.
