HTMA Hair Test: Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) measures mineral levels in your hair, which reflects what's stored in your body's tissues over the past 3 months. Blood tests show what's circulating right now—a snapshot that can change hour to hour. HTMA provides a longer-term view of mineral status and toxic metal accumulation that blood often misses, making it an excellent screening tool for identifying chronic imbalances.

Collection is simple and painless. You'll cut a small amount of hair (approximately 1–1.5 tablespoons of clippings, cut about 1–1.5 inches from the root) from the nape of your neck, close to the scalp. This area is chosen because it grows most consistently. After ordering, you'll receive detailed instructions and your HTMA submission form by email to print at home. You'll need a plain paper envelope — available at any post office or office supply store — to mail your sample to our partner lab. The sample is virtually unnoticeable once cut.

If hair is dyed/bleached, wait 6–8 weeks or at least 7 washes. Follow the collection instructions emailed after checkout and contact us before collecting if you have questions about other treatments.

Results are typically delivered within a few weeks after the lab receives your sample. You'll receive an email notification when your report is ready, with a secure link to view and download your comprehensive analysis. The laboratory timeline is the same across packages; the custom Report of Findings and Premium video are prepared after the lab results arrive.
