Hair tissue mineral analysis measures elements in a hair sample. It does not diagnose the cause of fatigue, stress or sleep symptoms, and does not replace blood tests or medical assessment.

The laboratory measures selected metals in hair. A hair result alone does not diagnose poisoning or determine treatment.

The report compares measured minerals and their ratios. These ratios are not standalone tests of thyroid, adrenal or blood-sugar function.
Why test hair?
Hair and blood are different specimens. Hair results can be affected by external exposure and collection conditions, and need to be interpreted in context.
This test reports elements measured in your submitted hair sample. It does not establish whole-body mineral stores, hormone levels, organ function or the cause of symptoms.

HTMA measures elements in hair. It does not replace blood testing, diagnose thyroid or adrenal disease, or establish the cause of symptoms. Ask a qualified healthcare provider which tests are appropriate for your situation.
HTMA Essential — common questions
HTMA is a lab test that measures the levels of minerals and toxic heavy metals deposited in a small hair sample. It measures the submitted specimen and is not a standalone diagnosis or a substitute for medical care.
Just a small amount from the back of the head — about 1–1.5 inches from the root, approximately 1–1.5 tablespoons of clippings in total, taken from 3–4 spots near the scalp. Your emailed instructions walk you through it. Recently dyed or bleached hair can affect some readings, so wait 6–8 weeks or at least 7 washes; full guidance is emailed to you.
Results are typically sent to us 10–14 days after the lab receives your sample, and we will contact you once they arrive. Custom interpretation and video services follow the laboratory report. Return shipping of your sample to the lab is the customer’s responsibility.
