A calcium-to-potassium ratio in hair does not establish thyroid function. HTMA does not measure TSH, T3 or T4. If you have thyroid symptoms or questions about medication, discuss appropriate assessment with your healthcare provider.
Avoid treating a hair ratio as a diagnosis
Our laboratory report presents measurements in the hair sample. Do not use those values alone to decide that you have a thyroid disorder, need supplementation or should change medication. Read the ATSDR discussion of hair-analysis limitations.
